We’re looking for like-minded local and international partners to support our work. We recognize the vitality of working together – both within the Virunga community and across oceans – to achieve environmental conservation and sustainable community development.
We welcome new partners, projects, and ideas.
The Red Rocks Initiative also seeks to join like-minded organizations, networks, forums, and initiatives, in order to better develop ourselves and enhance our collective change-making power.
We welcome collaborators researching effective sustainable tourism, conservation, and community management in Rwanda, Uganda, and the DRC. We strive to ensure that our work is not only well-intentioned, but also well-informed and beneficial for the development of local communities.
We work closely with our partners, leading research institutions, conservation organizations, and interested parties in designing research frameworks together, directly linked to our core mission and values. We welcome everyone from the local and international community, public and private institutions, and academia to take advantage of our research resources and local networks.
Help us inform our policies and programs and improve RRI by researching with us.

We equip local communities to benefit from conservation- and nature-based tourism by helping youth and women enter the tourism industry. Many of our local youth make a living by becoming experienced tour guides, waiters and waitresses, or starting small businesses, and women have found sustainable sources of income through traditional crafts, including basket weaving.
You can explore the natural beauty and intricate cultures of East Africa while contributing to rural development. Check out of sister organization Red Rocks Rwanda for community-driven eco-tours and cultural activities that directly benefit local entrepreneurs, women, and youth!
